Profile

Calling Las Vegas home for over 20 years Janien Valentine is still making waves and getting great reviews for her work both in and outside of Las Vegas. Throughout her dynamic career she has successfully honed the singing styles of pop, musical theatre, classical, and opera, to name a few, and is known as one of the most diverse singers in the country. You  may have heard this incredible talent when she co-starred alongside Clint Holmes or more recently co-starring with the first family of entertainment in Las Vegas, The Scintas!  She has also starred in numerous world premier musicals “Notre Dame De Paris”, “Men Are From Mars, Woman Are From Venus”, “Peepshow”, and her personal favorite “Carmen” starring in the title role for the La Jolla Playhouse with Cirque founder Franco Dragone as Director. She has been voted BEST FEMALE SINGER and THESPIAN by the Las Vegas Review Journal and the Las Vegas Sun. This powerhouse performer has soloed with some of North America’s greatest  symphony orchestras including Philly Pops, Atlanta, Houston, and Detroit symphonies all with her trio Poperazzi, CD currently available on I tunes.

Performing has always been in the cards for Ms. Valentine; she began singing and dancing at age 5. Growing up in Western New York, her professional career started at 16 when she landed her first recording contract with Amherst Records. Numerous singing awards later she decided to continue on this path.

From here she honed her skills by attending the performing arts college Niagara University where she starred in such musicals as “Nunsense” and “Little Shop of Horrors” earning her a slot to perform before the great composer and lyricist Kander and Ebb who referred to Ms.Valentine as “mega chops!” And then singing for President George W. Bush at the National Republican Convention.

After graduating cum laude with a BFA she took a train to NYC to try her luck. She landed her first audition for a show in Las Vegas, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Starlight Express.”  Ms. Valentine continues to wow audiences not only with her vocal capabilities, but with her comedic timing, passionate interpretations, and her love of performing. She has been called  “a versatile and powerful chanteuse” by  10 time Tony award nominee Chita Rivera.

She is very proud of her trios CD which is said to have stylistically “blurred the lines between classical, pop, and opera.” However, she is most proud of her 2 greatest blessings, her daughter Sabrina and son Nico, who are indeed her biggest fans!
