Tim Daugherty is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he began his musical studies at the age of 10 playing piano and writing songs. Daugherty found the limelight in his musical career early on, winning a national award for a jazz composition he wrote while still attending Washington High School in Cedar Rapids. He pursued jazz studies and earned his Bachelors and Master of Music degrees at the University of Iowa.
An active performer, composer and arranger, multi-keyboardist; Tim is part of a well-known musical family and his four brothers are all professional musicians with outstanding accolades of their own.
Tim formed the Tim Daugherty Group and later the Daugherty, Davis and McPartland Trio, a successful group performing around the USA and internationally. As musical ambassadors to the state of Iowa, DDMcP performed throughout Russia highlighted by an appearance at the Russian Arts Festival in Stavapol. Tim has also led and performed hundreds of jazz exploratory workshops.
Tim has produced 15 CDs of popular and original music, as well as collaborating with other musicians on numerous recordings.
As a performer, Tim has performed on the stage with such artists as Maynard Ferguson, Bill Watrous, Buddy DeFranco, Chris Valhalla, the Drifters, John Davidson, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, as well as countless other performers and entertainers.
Currently Tim is living and working out of the San Diego area.
