About
Pear are the award-winning, sell-out comedy duo of six-foot-seven identical twin comedians Hugo and Patrick McPherson. The only comedy show to be included in the “Top Ten Best Reviewed Shows of the Edinburgh Fringe” in both 2024 and 2025, Pear have established themselves as the new kings of sketch comedy across the UK and abroad. Alongside their acclaimed director Jon “Sweet Jon” Harvey, Pear have accrued dozens of rave, five-star reviews and international comedy awards, helping them emerge as an fresh comedy sensation.
Specialising in inclusive, fast-paced, electric comedy which can make audiences of any age or background howl, Pear’s material is both classic sketch comedy, in the vein of Mitchell and Webb and Key and Peele, whilst also introducing a speed and zaniness which is more in line with modern sketch shows and clowns such as Natalie Palamides, Tarot and Stamptown. Their style can be both “like Reeves and Mortimer at their best” (The Recs), and “so original and ridiculous” (One4Review). It’s a blend of stand-up presenting, quick-wit audience interaction and quirky character comedy.
Pear have received wide-spread critical acclaim. Verified by both British Comedy Guide and Chortle, the UK’s leading comedy websites, the response to their recent show placed them at no.3 slot for best reviewed show of the Edinburgh Fringe 2025, out of over 3500 shows. After four years of performing and over 50 professional reviews, Pear have never received a one, two or three star review, more-or-less unheard of in the world of live comedy.
