About

Pete Griffin was born in a log cabin in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in the middle of the last century. He grew up roaming the woods and waters in his native Great Lake State and that led him to seek a career in the woods where he did not have to speak to another person all day long.

Griffin's 36-year career with the US Forest Service as a wildlife biologist and forest ranger prepared him well for his second career as an Alaska cruise ship naturalist. He has been entertaining audiences with photos, videos, and stories of his encounters with fish, whales, bears, and glaciers in the 49th State since his retirement.

His first book, Stories of a Forest Ranger is available through Amazon and Parkhurst Brothers Publishers, as is his second book, Rafts, Raccoons, and Revelations: Growing Up on a Great Lake. His several published CDs include stories about growing up in Upper Michigan, stories from his Forest Service career, and insights into the natural history of common, and not-so-common plants and animals around the country.
