About
"The Napulitanata association was founded in 2015 with the goal of promoting the heritage of Neapolitan music, particularly the “classic Neapolitan song.” After winning a call for tenders issued by the City of Naples to lease a space within the monumental complex of the Galleria Principe, the association transformed what was formerly a scrap yard for taxis (located at Piazza Museo Nazionale 10 & 11) into a cultural hub entirely dedicated to Neapolitan song. For the past eight years, this space has hosted concerts, exhibitions, and educational activities.
The venue fills the gap for a permanent place where citizens and tourists alike can listen to Neapolitan music. Since its opening on April 28, 2017, it has welcomed 50,000 visitors from all over the world, becoming a cultural and tourist landmark for the city.
This cultural, musical, social, and urban regeneration project has attracted the interest of universities in Naples, Rome, and Liège (Belgium), and has traveled beyond national borders to Japan, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal, and Romania.
Among the founders of Napulitanata are Mimmo Matania, a cultural manager and musicologist, and pianist Pasquale Cirillo. The team consists of professional musicians and singers who contribute their skills to implement Napulitanata’s projects, alongside a group of specialists who support communications and administrative operations."
