About
The Scott pop duo of Craig and Brian MacDonald have taken the Scottish music scene by storm, since they burst into the public eye in 2006 as finalists in the monster British television show, X Factor.
In the ensuing four years, the MacDonald Bros have achieved spectacular success, with their first two albums, produced by former Bay City Roller Stuart “Woody” Wood, rocketing into the Scottish charts at number one and number two respectively. In fact, their self titled debut recording made pop history as the first album on a Scottish independent label to land at number one on the Scottish charts.
Born and raised in Ayr, Scotland, this sibling duo has been harmonising since they could walk, with their musical father initiating their passion with home recordings whilst still toddlers. At six and seven years of age the lads were off to music classes in the traditional Scottish instruments of accordion and fiddle. Ten years of honing their instrumental chops ensued, with both lads winning a clutch of awards, on the way to becoming musical virtuosos –Brian on accordion and Craig on fiddle.
The pace has been relentless for the MacDonald Bros, having now released 5 albums in the UK, an Australian Album, and now an Asian album in the pipeline. Add to this four headlining tours of Scotland and a pair of UK tours in support of Irish superstars Westlife and you have an incredible few years of frenetic activity.
To make their lives even more surreal, The MacDonald Bros have had the opportunity to record a previously unreleased song written by childhood hero, Sir Elton John. More in hope than anticipation the band’s manager made a request to Sir Elton for a track and the great man came back with a personally penned demo he thought would suit. The result is the brilliant, soul influenced rock track, Runaway.
