Jennifer May grew up moving back and forth between Japan and California. That is why in her show Sushi Jazz Polka you can see humour, tradition, music, and love wrapped in both American and Japanese style. Originally being a classically trained pianist, she plays jazz, Japanese old time favourites, rock, pop music in 5 different instruments including piano, accordion, melodica, Taishogoto (Japanese instrument) and andes (flute keyboard instrument) with singing as well.
This show contains the rendition of jazz on Taishogoto for the first time in the world, which represents one of her cross cultural features. Japanese singalongs and English singalongs are both available. The Beatles, Studio Gibli songs (Japanese film music), and Debussy with authentic classical techniques will take you on a journey that will be a highlight of your Japan trip.
