"After being a London based session musician and songwriter for many years, James had his first national break on BBC’s Fame Academy. He then represented the UK at The Eurovision Song Contest in 2004. After signing to Sony UK, his debut single, ‘Hold on to Our Love’ reached number 13 in the UK singles chart and was followed by another Top 20 hit four years later. His song “Landlocked” that he wrote with legendary lyricist, Sir Tim Rice, was the Official Poppy Appeal song in 2012 James has supported Tina Turner, Lulu, Wet Wet Wet, Natasha Bedingfield, Claire Teal and Will Young.
Theatre includes: Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (UK tour). The ""Piano Man"" in the Billy Joel musical Movin’ Out on Broadway, West End and North American tour. The ""American"" in the UK, European and Canadian tour of the musical ""Chess"".""Paul McCartney"" in ""Let it Be” on Broadway, UK tour and in the West End.
Other work includes: James has had the honour of performing in front of Her Majesty The Queen three times. Twice at the Royal Albert Hall for The Festival of Remembrance, in recognition of him entertaining the British Armed Forces worldwide for nearly two decades and more recently at Windsor Castle to Celebrate the Queens
90th Birthday. James has just received the Civilian Service Medal for his work in Afghanistan.
James performed at the ""A Life In Song, Tim Rice"" concert at The Royal Festival Hall and regularly performs with Sir Tim at concerts around the UK. Last year James finished writing, recording and producing his second album, “All The Fours”. It was released to much critical acclaim and made many BBC Radio A lists and national coverage."
