New Zealand-based pianist Carl Doy is recognised internationally as one of the great piano stylists, with his multi-platinum Piano By Candlelight series having sold over two million copies in the USA alone. Oprah Winfrey, on her Christmas show, featured another of Carl’s albums “Together,” declaring it was her “Favorite of Favorites.”
Apart from his solo career, Carl has always been a busy session musician and his uncanny ability to play in a wide range of musical styles has resulted in working and recording with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including such luminaries as Ronan Keating, B.B. King, Gladys Knight, Shirley Bassey and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.
In recognition for his services to music, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth honoured him with the ONZM medal.
Carl loves to cruise and has visited just about any port you care to mention, but his favourite place to be is at the piano, live, in concert! He hits just the right spot between virtuosity and entertainment, and his inimitable style encompasses Gershwin to ABBA with a detour to Lloyd Webber, Billy Joel and Mozart on the way!
