About
Anna Stephens began her journey as an opera singer at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, and then at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. After honing her skills as an operatic soprano, she made her debut with Opera Australia aged 21, singing the roles of Pamina, Papagena, and the Queen of the Night in a touring production of Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute’.
She toured again the following year with Opera Australia’s ‘By the Light of the Moon’. Anna has performed under the baton of world-renowned conductors, including Johannes Fritzsch and Simone Young, most recently in a production of ‘Ariadne Auf Naxos’ with the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program. She won the Fine Music 102.5 Young Virtuoso Award (2018) and placed in the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship (2022). Anna has always held a passion for Musical Theatre, and recently understudied and performed Carlotta Giudicelli in the 2022-2023 Australian production of Cameron Mackintosh and Opera Australia’s The Phantom of the Opera.
She has also just finished a season performing in Victorian Opera’s Sweeney Todd at the Sydney Opera House, where she also understudied the role of Johanna.
